The School of Education Studies has a long history in teaching and research on aspects of diversity and interculturalism. When the Department of Education and Science's recently announced that it was developing a national intercultural education strategy several members of the School's academic staff attended the consultations arranged by the Office for Integration. These consultations were followed by a formal submission from the School of Education Studies on intercultural education in second level schools and a memo on intercultural education in higher education. The submissions were drafted by a team led by Dr. James O'Higgins-Norman who worked with Dr. Carmel Mulcahy and Kathy Harrison MSc in developing the policy documents.
