About the Network

Founded in 2003 by Dr. James O'Higgins-Norman, Schooling Sexualities is a research network for those interested in all aspects of Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) in schools.

The Network provides a forum for those interested in:

  • Promoting RSE in schools
  • Researching the relationship between schools, relationships and sexuality
  • Considering the diversity of views and theories about relationships, sexuality and education.
  • Developing resources and materials for use in RSE in schools

Membership of the Network is open to academics, students, researchers, teachers, administrators, parents, and anyone who is dedicated to promoting the provision of RSE in schools. Post graduate students engaged in research on any aspect of relationships or sexuality in education are particularly welcome.

Since it was founded the Schooling Sexualities Network has published a number of important funded reports which can be accessed on this website.

The Network is based at the School of Education Studies in Dublin City University and liaises with several partners including:
