Developing and Managing your Research Career
The office of the Vice President for Research and the Training & Development Section of Human Resources
are running this workshop for Researchers as part of the Researcher Development Programme.
Date and course duration:
This course is split into three different sessions, as indicated below.
Participants need to be available for all three sessions. The dates include:
Session 1 A one day group workshop - 9th February 2012
Session 2 90 Minutes (one to one session) - 23rd and 24th February 2012
Session 3 A one day group workshop - 8th March 2012
Target Audience:
• researchers interested in finding out more about themselves and how they might be able to develop themselves
• researchers considering their career options
• researchers facing career decisions.
Aims of this course:
The career of a Researcher is both unique and exciting. This programme aims to support Researchers in looking at their
interests and abilities, their career objectives and develop strategies for their career that work for them.
The course aims to assist participants:
• identify practical ways in which they can take responsibility for their career
• understand their research career at DCU
• identify their transferable skills and work values
• understand how their motivation impacts on the way they work and why
• establish how far work fits into the rest of their lives
• identify their personal career objectives and develop practical plans to achieve those objectives.
