R. Edward Freeman is University Professor, University of Virginia; Elis and Signe Olsson Professor of Business Administration; Academic Director, Business Roundtable Institute for Corporate Ethics, Darden School of Business, University of Virginia, USA. Often cited as “the father of Stakeholder Theory”, Professor Freeman is the author of the award-winning book Strategic Management: A Stakeholder Approach. He is the author or editor of over twenty volumes and one hundred articles in the areas of stakeholder management, business strategy and business. In 2001 he was honored by the World Resources Institute and the Aspen Institute with a Pioneer Award for Lifetime Achievement. In 2005 he received the Outstanding Faculty Award from the Virginia State Council on Higher Education. In 2010 the Society for Business Ethics gave its “Outstanding Contributions to Scholarship Award” to Freeman, noting that there were more than 12,000 citations to his work on stakeholder theory. Ed Freeman is a lifelong student of philosophy, martial arts, and the blues. Simone de Colle is Lecturer of Business Ethics at the Institute of Ethics, Dublin City University, Ireland; Co-founder and Project Manager of The Q-RES Project, Italy (www.qres.it). Dr de Colle has over 15 yers of experience in research, education and consultancy in business ethics and corporate social responsibility (CSR). He has taught courses of Business Ethics and CSR in the United States (University of Virginia), Italy (Universities of Trento, LIUC, Milan and Verona), France (ISEG-Paris), Ireland (DCU) and Switzerland, where he is a Member of the Scientific Committee of the CSR Advanced Certificate, University of Geneva. In 2000-02 he worked as Business Ethics Manager at KPMG Sustainability Advisory Services in London. Simone is a co-author of Stakeholder Theory: The State of the Art with Ed Freeman et al. (2010). He served as Council Member of the Institute of Social and Ethical AccountAbility London, and as expert member of the ISO Working Group on Social Responsibility, contributing to the drafting of ISO 26000. He holds a PhD in Management and Business Ethics from the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia. |
