This Study Abroad option exists for institutions of higher education outside Ireland, interested in a tailor-made programme for their students. We currently offer two types of tailor-made Study Abroad Programmes, one where the focus lies on English Language Learning, and a second where the focus is on specific academic subjects. For convenience, please find below an example for each of these options:
This programme is for non-native English speakers of any academic discipline who will study at DCU for one full academic year, after having completed at least one full year of study at their home university.
Students are offered an orientation period on arrival and take part in an intensive three weeks of English language and culture learning prior to the start of the academic year. During this time, students live with host families to support their initial English learning in an Irish family setting. For the remainder of the year, students are placed in on- or off-campus student accommodation. Each semester, students follow a specified number of English language and culture courses, and in addition they may choose courses in their chosen subject area. English language courses are offered in two components: a) as regular courses through our School of Applied Language and Intercultural Studies, and b) as flexible options through DCU's Language Services in which teachers respond to the needs of students and lecturers feedback on the students' performance.
These may include:
Credits gained at DCU are fully transferable to the home institution.

There is an option of faculty accompanying the students to add an element of experiential learning to the study abroad experience. Credits gained at DCU are fully transferable to the home institution.
