The Biomedical Diagnostics Institute (BDI) is an Academic-Industrial-Clinical partnership that is focussed on the development of next generation point-of-care biomedical diagnostics devices. These devices are targeted at point of care applications, including near patient testing, self-testing in the home, and diagnosis of disease in the low resource environments of the developing world.

| High Brightness Nanoparticles for Fluorescent Labelling |
The researchers at the Biomedical Diagnostics Institute at DCU have developed proprietary silica nanoparticles which are doped with fluorescent dyes in order to provide high brightness fluorescent labels for range of application, primarily in the diagnostics and pharmaceutical industries.
