Enterprise Week Bright Ideas Competition – 3rd March 2010
The DCU Entrepreneurial & Social (E&S) Society’s Annual Bright Ideas Competition took place in Invent DCU on Wednesday 3rd March 2010. The competition was part of the Dublin City Enterprise Board and E&S Enterprise Week which comprises of a number of events that have taken place throughout campus this week.
Bright Ideas is a Dragon’s Den style competition where students are encouraged to submit business ideas. The best ideas were presented in front of a panel of judges who picked an eventual winner.
Judging the ideas were Richard Stokes, CEO Invent, Dr. Sarah Ingle, DCU Business School and Gerry Lawlor, Dublin City Enterprise Board. This years Bright Ideas winners were a group of DCU students known as Connect 4. The group comprises of Luciana Magliocco, Louise Moneypenny, Marie Claire Hoey and Caoimhe Mc Kenna.
Their ‘Bright Idea’ was a website which will help with the transition of moving to a new country. The website helps to source all the requirements that are needed in settling into an unfamiliar country. The idea for the website came about when Luciana found herself on an Erasmus Programme last year struggling to source the simplest of things such as furniture for here apartment!
Connect 4 was awarded a prize of three hundred euro which will go towards helping the team develop their new business idea.
