Entrepreneur Peter Smyth joins Invent DCU Resident Expert Panel

Invent DCU is delighted to announce that entrepreneur and DCU graduate Peter Smyth, CEO RedMere Technologies, has joined the Invent DCU Resident Expert panel. ‘Peter has a wealth of experience to pass on to aspiring DCU researchers and entrepreneurs and will be a great asset’, said Richard Stokes CEO Invent.  To mark the occasion, Peter gave a presentation entitled:

“RedMere Milestones – Monetize That!” which focused on his personal experience of the milestones involved in commercialising ideas which was held in Invent on Friday 14th November 2008.

The Invent Resident Expert panel offers free and confidential advice on an individual basis to aspiring entrepreneurs and technology start-ups based in the Invent centre.

Peter Smyth’s Biography

Peter Smyth is Founder and CEO of RedMere Technology Ltd., a semiconductor company which embeds its unique signal processing technology directly into cables to eliminate up to 80% of the copper used in high-speed data cables – making thinner, lighter cables for a variety of applications. Prior to founding RedMere in 2004, Peter was VP Business Development of the Strategic Accounts and Wireline Communications Divisions of Ceva Inc. (Nasdaq: CEVA), with worldwide business responsibility for the division. Over a career spanning 10 years at Ceva (previously Parthus Inc.), he was also VP Product Marketing and VP Sales. Before joining Ceva in Ireland, he was Europe Manager for the Taiwan-based consumer electronics firm Microtek International, based in Munich. Prior to that, he was USA Western Region Sales Manager for Microtek’s (DSD) operation in the United States, based in Portland, Oregon. Peter also held roles as Product Marketing Engineer and later as UK Sales Manager, based in London, for Irish firm Ashling Microsystems. Out of college Peter was a Control Systems Design Engineer for Hyster Inc.. Peter holds a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering degree from Dublin City University, 1985.
