DCU Entrepreneurs Scoop EI Student Enterprise Award
Understanding that a company is a great team of complementary talents is what led Eoin Markey(Digital Media Engineering Student) and Oisin O Doinn (Business & Irish Student) to come together to develop their technology which is wearable sensors that are non invasive as they do not come in contact with the skin. This technology can allow for heart rate to be monitored, location to be detected and can be applied in a range of areas including the emergency services and healthcare sectors.
Both students have worked with Invent DCU to progress their idea and develop their business plan. For product development they have linked up with Invent Client company M2C which has worked with the team in developing the core technology.
On hearing of their win Operations Manager Sue O’Neill said “we are thrilled that Oisin and Eoin have received recognition for the effort and enthusiasm they have put into their business idea and we are delighted that as a result of their engagement with Invent we could be a catalyst for the development of their product through their interaction with both our Resident Experts in the area of Intellectual Property advice and with Engineering company M2C who have been very proactive in working with DCU students and indeed other Invent client companies.”
The Enterprise Ireland Student Enterprise Awards offer third level students from all academic disciplines across the island of Ireland the chance to realise their entrepreneurial ambitions.
These awards are about encouraging third level students with the ambition and drive to establish their own businesses to explore their ideas and their own appetite for going into business for themselves. Taking part in the programme gives them the chance to test their flair for business and in the process become more confident of their sense of judgment, more adept at decision-making and idea generation and resourceful in making these ideas a reality.
