PCs, Laptops, Wireless
There are networked PCs on all floors of the library.
We also provide wireless access for laptop use and dedicated laptop power and network points on all floors.
Students can print from all PCs and from their laptops; access email and the web.
For quick access to the Library catalogue, we have dedicated Catalogue PCs on all floors.
How do I log on to the PCs?
To login press Ctrl+Alt+Del and enter your DCU username and password (this information is given to students at registration). Your username and password gives you direct access to the DCU student network and your student portal page.
What if I don't have my username and password?
If you have forgotten or lost your username and password, staff at the ISS Service Desk on the ground floor of the library will assist you.
NB: Always log off when you have finished using a PC.
I'm a guest – how do I get a username and password?
Guests are issued with a username and password on completion of a form at the Information Desk/Reception.
Wired Access for Laptops
Power and network points are available throughout the Library for laptop use.
Laptops are available to borrow from Glasnevin Library, self-service lockers in the printing & photcopying area on the ground floor and St. Patrick's Library, at Reception on the ground floor.
Laptops are issued without a power cable or mouse - battery life is approximately 3 hours. Please ask at the ISS Service Desk if you need any help.
- To borrow and return laptops you must have a valid DCU Student ID card
- Only one laptop can be issued per transaction
- Laptops are issued for 3 hours at a time
- Laptops cannot be taken outside the Library
- Laptops should be returned to the cabinets half an hour before the library closes

Wireless Access for Laptops
All library study areas support wireless (Wifi) access.
There are two wireless networks available on campus:
- Eduroam for DCU registered staff and students
How do I connect to DCU-Guest-Wifi?
Ask at the Information Desk, Glasnevin Library and Reception, St. Patrick's library for the current guest Wifi username and password. Then follow the instructions on the ISS support pages to access Web pages.
The ISS Service Desk, staffed by the DCU Information Systems and Services (ISS) Department will help with all your IT problems or questions about network issues, retrieving lost files, hardware problems, PC access, printing and photocopying.

The PCs in the Library are subject to the DCU Code of Conduct for the use of computing resources. PCs are made available for academic purposes only. During busy periods in the library, you may be asked to vacate a workstation if you are using the PC for anything other than research or project work.
