The Ryan Academy for Entrepreneurship is dedicated to helping Ireland to develop entrepreneurial thinking, innovative ways of doing business and new ventures in a range of areas.
One of the biggest areas of potential in the next decade is green technologies. Firstly to get Ireland off it’s current addiction to oil and other non-renewable sources of energy.
Secondly as Ireland is abundant in potential sources of renewable energy, to examine new forms of technology, new start-ups in the area and the whole area of ‘green thinking’ which is good for society and good for the economy.
A key document in this thinking is the ForFas report “Developing the Green Economy in Ireland” which was published in November 2009.
The Ryan Academy believes that key strategic cluster developments such as the Marine/Ocean cluster around the Galway area, the Digital Media cluster in Dublin city and a potential for a Green/Clean technology cluster in Ireland will be key to economic development.
The Research section of the Ryan Academy website has a number of papers on cluster developments including those mentioned here.
The Ryan Academy also produces thought leadership and commentary on the green technologies area through its blog.
