Dr. Esselman has over 30 years of experience in Engineering and Management. His responsibilities have included performance and management of large groups with diverse functions including executive management. He has had responsibility for numerous interdisciplinary task forces, cross-functional problem solving projects, and technology planning activities.
Dr. Esselman is the Chief Technology Officer for the Northern Region of Altran Technologies, SA. Altran Technologies is a consulting firm headquartered in Paris. The Northern Region of Dr. Esselman’s responsibility includes the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, and Asia. He is responsible to leverage technology to extend market penetration, to provide technological awareness and visibility, and to develop and maintain relationships with universities.
Dr. Esselman is also a Lecturer at Harvard University in the Division of Engineering and Applied Science. He has developed and teaches a course entitled “Innovation in Engineering and Science”. This course provides a basis for students to learn about the process of innovation and to explore their ability to innovate. This course has been taught at Harvard since 2002. A similar course was taught to a large group of students in France starting in 2004. Dr. Esselman has lectured on innovation at several universities in the United States and Europe.
Dr. Esselman is the Founder and former President of Altran Corporation. Altran was founded in 1986. Dr. Esselman was previously in a variety of management positions at Westinghouse Electric Corporation.
Dr. Esselman has a Ph.D. in Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. He has authored or co-authored more than thirty-five publications and is a member of several professional societies.
