DCU Open Days

At DCU Open Day events you will get an opportunity to meet with the staff from the Disability and Learning Support Service to answer any queries you may have if you are considering third level education and have a disability, specific learning difficulty or medical condition. Information Event for Adult Learners with Disabilities

Better Options 2012

DCU will be hosting Better Options 2012 on Wednesday 28th November 2012, in the Helix. More details coming soon so please revisit our site in the coming weeks.

Better Options is a unique one day event focussing on students with a disability, specific learning difficulty or medical condition considering Higher Education options in Ireland.

At this event you will;

  • Learn how to apply to the CAO as a student with a disability
  • Get information on the colleges that operate the supplementary admission policies for students with disabilities
  • Get advice on available funding
  • Get information on courses and supports available in the different colleges
  • Get information on career choices from the Higher Education Careers Officers
  • Presentations and success stories from graduates with disabilities
  • Workshops for Guidance Counsellors on the CAO Disability Access Route to Education (D.A.R.E.)

All are welcome, including students, parents, teachers and guidance counsellors.

It is run in association with AHEAD and DAWN (Disability Advisors Working Network) and runs in Dublin, UCC and UL in December each year. Spelling and Grammar waiver update 

Students who have registered with the Service and have been allocated a spelling and grammar waiver can now access the waiver through their portal page. The waiver is located in the utilities section of their portal page underneath where they print off their project submission form. posted 7/3/2012

Deadline for Registering for Exam Supports

Students wishing to registered with the DLSS should note that the deadline for processing examination supports is Friday the 30th of March. If you have queries or wish to register with the DLSS please contact  Ted.Harvey@dcu.ie or phone 01 7005208. Exam Accomodations For Semester 2 

Your accommodations can be found on your portal page. Go to the Biographical tab and view the Personal Details section, (scroll down). You are obliged to review your accommodations to ensure they are correct and contact the Disability and Learning Support Service in good time if they are not.  posted 21/1/2012

For first time registrants with the Service, your accommodations will have been agreed at your initial registration meeting with the Disability Officer. For returning students, your accommodations have been rolled over from your previous sitting. The only exception would be if you have since spoken to the Disability Officer and agreed any changes.
