Online Orientation

Week 9: 21st – 25th November 2011

Focus on iconFocus this Week:
  • Group Work and Diversity / Time Management

DCU offers students an international learning experience and is proud of the diversity of the student population, the integrated exchange year and the curriculum, which is designed to prepare students for the international marketplace. This week the campus will showcase this facet of the University – and give you the opportunity to develop your international competence and learn about new ways of making yourself ready for the global marketplace.

  1. Take a look at the notes on Group Work - this is always a tricky one, especially if you are working with diverse groups of students for the first time.
  2. Register for the Workshop on Time Management. This will help you to keep on top of your assignment submission dates.

If your programme does not include an integrated year abroad, there are plenty of other ways to 'internationalise' your experience and ensure that you learn from the various cultures on campus. Why not join up for the Tandem Learning scheme (details at the Student Advice Centre) and practice another language with a native speaker? Look at the range of Societies and join one with an international flavour.

DCU has over 100 nationalities represented on campus, so make sure that you work with colleagues from different cultural backgrounds and benefit from each other's perspectives.
