DCU teams and individuals compete against other Irish Universities in CUSAI inter-varsity competitions. CUSAI is the Colleges and Universities Sports Association of Ireland. CUSAI is Ireland's national university sports federation and consists of Sports Administrators and Student-Elected Representative from third level institutions in Ireland.

CUSAI aims to develop and promote student sport at national and international level. Talented athletes can also be selected to compete in the World University Championships, the European University Championships and the World Student Games, the penultimate international student sporting competition.
