Wednesday 8 December: It has been a quiet couple of weeks on the student sport front because of the 'big freeze'. A few notable results to report though... Both Men's and Women's Soccer won their respective regional qualifiers for the Colleges Futsal Competition and will compete in the All Ireland Finals in the New Year. The girls won their qualifier on penalties! Despite losing both finals, the Men's and Women's Fresher's Basketball teams performed brilliantly in the recent Fresher's Tournament in Limerick. The girls led for most of their final against UL but lost by the minimum margin.
The lads also lost to the home side in the final. Sport Scholarship students (Basketball) Shauna O'Connor, Christina Newton and Caitriona Foley helped DCU Mercy to a quarter final Cup victory over favourites UL at the weekend. The girls will play Killester in the semi final in January in a bid to retain their title.
