Introduction

The Professional Certificate/Diploma in Education is a postgraduate qualification which builds on the general knowledge of a bachelor's degree to prepare students to teach in schools across the country.  The main focus of this programme is to provide opportunities for students to deepen their awareness of a range of practical and theoretical issues essential to learning and teaching within the education sector.

Programme

The Professional Certificate/Diploma in Higher Education is comprised of four modules that include both taught and school based dimensions.  Each module is equivalent to 5 ECTS credits.  Almost all modules are offered as blended learning, combining face to face tuition with online formats.

After successful completion of four modules, students may choose to graduate with the Professional Certificate in Education (20 credit, Level 9 qualification).

Alternatively, students who successfully complete a fifth dissertation module are awarded the Professional Diploma in Education (30 credit, Level 9 qualification).
