English language programmes

We have a variety of English language programmes to help you improve your English before studying at DCU. These are intensive courses designed specifically to prepare you for your Foundation, Bachelor or Masters degree at DCU. Our Assessment Team can recommend the most suitable programme for you. 

What programme am I eligible for?

You must meet the academic entry requirements for your Bachelor or Masters degree programme at DCU. 

Your IELTS score must be taken in one examination within two years of the start date of the English language programme at DCU.

Pre-Sessional English Language Programmes

The Pre-Sessional English Language Programmes is for you if you have a high level of English language competency, yet need or want additional support before entering a Bachelor or Masters degree at DCU. Short intensive courses are available for five or ten weeks before your programme begins. Classes are held on the DCU campus. Contact english.courses@dcu.ie for details

 

Dublin City University International Foundation Programme

The Pre-Masters International Foundation Programme (IFP) is for you if you have a conditional offer from DCU and you do not meet the English Language entry requirements. As well as core English language classes, you will take modules from your destination degree. Your fees will be reduced when you progress to your Masters. You may also have exemptions. Classes are held on the DCU campus.

When you successfully complete this programme:

  • You are guaranteed your seat on your chosen Masters at DCU
  • You are not required to sit an additional IELTS exam

DCU Language Services (DCULS) English language courses

The DCULS English language school has a range of courses to choose from that will help you improve your English language competency level. It takes about one year to go from IELTS 4.5 to 5.5.

You must have IELTS 4.5 to enter this course. Classes are held on the DCU campus.
